If you know me better than I know myself you can control me but if I know myself better than you know me I can control what is happening in my life. Often people are getting ready to soar in life but someone will push one of their stop buttons and they will give up an idea or dream they may have about making a positive difference in their world. It does not have to be another person taking control of our life; often it is thoughts coming from our own subconscious mind.
A tool from my Tool Box that has been helpful in my creating a life of abundance is a library of books on the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a study of the nine basic types of people. It explains why we behave the way we do, and points to specific directions for individual growth. It is an important tool for understanding yourself, and improving relationships with family, friends, and co-workers.
A Brief description of the Nine Types:
I am a three on the Enneagram. I am the Achiever. I am motivated by the need to be productive, achieve success, and avoid failure. Bet that’s not a surprise to anyone!
In my career I was driven to find a niche in a competitive market to help me achieve the success that I needed to fuel my flame. I introduced programs to assist my customers meet the needs of their customers and increase all business involved. At the time it was a unique approach. It worked and I had success in increasing sales to my customers. I also managed to attract new customers who wanted to participate in the programs I was offering.
I am now in my sunset years of life, retired and investing my energies in a blog with no financial gain in sight. In spite of that I still am a three on the Enneagram, driven to achieve success.
Last week I became discouraged by the decline in the number of visitors to my blog. When I wrote about tax savings I reached an all-time high of 3000 viewers. But in relating some of my personal stories the viewing audience was lower.
Yesterday I once again got inspired by a ten-year-old girl who is faithfully following my blog. She wrote and wanted clarification on writing in her dream journal. She also sent pictures for me to use on my blog. That one success was enough to charge up my engine and start moving forward.
Exploring your personal number on the Enneagram will help you to better understand what may be holding you back to living the life of your dreams. There are many books available on this helpful tool. For beginners in this study I would suggest the book The Enneagram Made Easy by Renee Baron and Elizabeth Wagele.
